Writing Hartford Undergraduate Essay Prize Form
Contest Guidelines
Eligibility
- Open to work submitted by any Hartford campus student or UConn student taking courses at the Hartford campus
- Submission must come from a course taken in fall of 2019 or spring of 2020
- Can be submitted by faculty member or directly by student
- Two categories: First-Year (freshmen authors) and Undergraduate (open to all undergraduates regardless of year)
Rules
- Submission should engage with the city of Hartford (its people, places, or other city-related issues) in at least some tangible way
- Priority will be given to original research and/or work that advances understanding about the city
- Entries can include multimodal elements such as visual information, audio, and/or genres beyond that of the academic essay
- Entry into this contest does not disqualify student from using the same piece for other UConn contests, such as the Aetna Writing in the Disciplines Awards or the Aetna First-Year Writing Award
- One entry per student

Dates
- Rolling entries will be accepted throughout 2019-2020 academic year.
- Final Due Date for submissions is June 1, 2020
